Douglas County 4-H Foundation - 2018

Achievement Celebration

The Douglas County 4-H Foundation was one of two sponsors for the 4-H Achievement Celebration. It was held in Building 21 on the Douglas County Fairgrounds. Approximately two hundred 4-H'ers and their families enjoyed a catered meal as they celebrated the 2017-18 4-H year's accomplishments.

Discovery Days

In June, nine 4-H'ers attended Discovery Days on the Kansas State University Campus. Youth gained knowledge at classes, met new friends, and explored the campus. Douglas County 4-H Foundation partially sponsored these youth.

Campference

Campference features workshops about opportunities in the 4-H program, and activities to energize youth while learning leadership skills and how to better interact with others. Two youth attended this camp at Rock Springs Ranch in June. Douglas County 4-H Foundation provided partial funding for these youth to attend.

County 4-H Camp

Approximately ninety 4-H'ers and counselors attended county 4-H camp at Rock Springs Ranch in June of 2018. Douglas County 4-H Foundation helped to financially sponsor this event. By participating in county 4-H camp, the 4-H'ers have the opportunity to live in a group, learn about the environment and participate in recreational activities that could develop into life long hobbies and/or careers.

A Day on the Farm

Approximately one thousand fourth grade students from Douglas County schools participated in A Day on the Farm, an educational learning activity about production agriculture. For the field trip students attended a two and one-half hour session at the Douglas County Fairgrounds. Eight stations were set up to illustrate the different agricultural products and occupations. This was a cooperative event sponsored by many different groups. Financial assistance from the Douglas County 4-H Foundation went toward student transportation.
