Master Food Volunteers

Similar to the Master Gardener Program, the Extension Master Food Volunteer Program provides a foundation of knowledge and skills to volunteers in the subject areas of food safety, food science, food preparation, and food preservation. In return, after completing the training, volunteers will provide 40 hours of community education and service to the public.

Master Food Volunteer Hours Tally Sheet

SNAP Application Assistance:  Join The Douglas County Extension Master Food Volunteers (EMFV) at the Senior Resource Center (SRC) for SNAP application assistance (formerly known as Food Stamps).   All are welcome, regardless of age!   SNAP helps eligible low-income individuals and families buy nutritious food from local food retailers using a debit card that is loaded with approved  SNAP cash benefits each month. How to get help with your SNAP application? 1. Call the SRC at 785-842-0543 and make a SNAP application appointment during one of the following days and times:   Wednesday, February 23, 1 - 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 1 - 3 p.m.  2. Meet with an EMFV at the SRC  (745 Vermont Street Lawrence, KS 66044)  during your appointment time to get help with your SNAP application.
