2026 Summer Intern(s)
About
K-State Extension Douglas County is seeking two summer interns to support program planning and facilitation, coordination of Extension events, and basic communication and marketing efforts. Interns will gain hands-on experience working across a broad range of Extension program areas, collaborating with staff on initiatives that integrate agriculture, community health and wellness, community vitality, horticulture and natural resources, and 4-H youth development to address community needs.
This full-time, ten-week internship will run from approximately May 26 through July 31, 2026. The summer interns will be selected by April 10, 2026.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Extension professionals across multiple program areas to plan, coordinate, and deliver interdisciplinary summer programming.
- Support project management activities, including scheduling, coordination of logistics, and meeting timelines, requiring strong organizational and time management skills.
- Plan, deliver, and co-teach educational experiences grounded in research-based curricula, ensuring high-quality program implementation and learner engagement.
- Collect, analyze, and communicate program impacts through written summaries, reports, and outreach materials, strengthening professional writing and evaluation skills.
- Complete other responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
- Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Desire to work collaboratively with others.
- Possess computer skills including email and Microsoft Office programs.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, coordinate logistics, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic programming environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with individuals and/or groups to accomplish goals.
- Experience in project management.
- Facilitating and evaluating educational programs.
- Experience working with diverse audiences.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both English and Spanish-speaking learners
Other Requirements
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment
- Requires a valid driver’s license, a reliable vehicle, and a willingness to travel to achieve program objectives
