Urban Agriculture

Home food production can be a rewarding experience in any setting. Urban neighborhoods present interesting challenges beyond those experienced by rural residents, but much of the science behind appropriate production techniques remains the same. The City of Lawrence passed an urban agriculture text amendment to the city code in May of 2016. The pages in this section are designed to address the fundamental questions regarding various urban agriculture practices that are permitted within the City of Lawrence limits. These resources may also be helpful for residents throughout the county. If you need further assistance beyond these resources, please contact the appropriate agent who will be happy to help.
