Douglas County encourages residents to sign up (online) for the NE Kansas Regional Notification System, a free call notification system used by Douglas County to provide residents with health and safety information, including weather alerts sent by the National Weather Service in Topeka. Douglas County's outdoor warning siren system consists of 44 sirens placed strategically throughout the county as an early warning device to alert citizens outdoors to imminent severe weather.
