The Extension Master Food Volunteer Program provides a foundation of knowledge and skills to volunteers in the subject areas of food safety, food science, food preparation, and food preservation. In return, after completing the training, volunteers will provide 40 hours of community education and service to the public.

The Extension Master Food Volunteer Program in Douglas County is dedicated to serving vulnerable populations by supporting individuals and families experiencing food insecurity. Volunteers give back to the community by sharing research-based nutrition education and food preparation skills, while working collaboratively with local partners to improve access to healthy, affordable food. Through service and education, the program plays a vital role in building a healthier, more food-secure Douglas County.
All trainings will be at the Dreher Family 4-H Building located at 2110 Harper Street, Lawrence, Kansas, from 9 am to noon. The training registration fee is $100. Dates for the new volunteer class for the Extension Master Food Volunteers are as follows:
  1. Tuesday, August 19th
  2. Thursday, September 4th
  3. Tuesday, September 23rd
